Sharm 2005, Part Four: Shake what your mama gave you
April 26, 2005

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

We got back to the hotel too late to enjoy the excellent happy hour we had discovered the night before, so we decided to stroll along the Naama Bay promenade looking for another one before finally settling for the less-than-appealing one at our hotels bar. We found a really swank outdoor happy hour at the Hilton (I think), which was a pretty good deal. The drinks were yummy, but the alcohol content was weak. After that happy hour was over we decided to hit the happy hour at our hotel, which was, well, really sad. The deal was buy one drink get the second, same exact drink, free. The drinks all tasted like life saver flavors, were really filling, and very low on alcohol content. It ended up making me feel very sick and yucky. But they sure did look pretty:

After all the drinking, we figured it was time for dinner, and after much hemming and hawing we ended up at the brick oven pizza place affiliated with our hotel. It was really

After we finished that happy hour, we figured it was time to get dinner. After a lot of indecision and walking around Naama Bay for 45 minutes, we eventually settled on the brick oven pizza restaurant at our hotel. The deal there was "order a medium pizza and get a large." Since there were only two pizza sizes on the menu, medium and large, we spent a lot of dinner wondering why they even have the medium pizza option at all. Any ideas?
Anyway, after dinner I was starting to feel incredibly ill, stomach bursting, but not from the food. From some weird combination of alcohol I guess? But we decided to retire to our rooms for an hour and rest, get dressed, etc. before going out clubbing. On the one hand, I wasn't really feeling it, but on the other, one of the main reasons I had been excited about going to Sharm was precisely because of the clubs...
In any case, we met up about an hour later, and went to Bus Stop, one of the older and still cool clubs in Sharm. But there was a serious line oustide, and we didn't feel like dealing with it so we figured we'd get some sheesha and then go back in an hour or so.
While smoking sheesha, we decided to have a game of "never have I ever." That may not have been the best idea...because Zenith and I ended up looking like whores, and I think E. was a little, disappointed? I mean, not really, but it wasn't as fun as it could have been.

So we made our way back to Bus Stop, where there was now no longer a line, only to find out that the entry fee was 120 LE each. But this is Egypt, and after talking amonst ourselves for a few minutes, we managed to convince the bouncers to let all three of us in for 120 LE, and they did. We were all a little less than enthusiastic after everything that had happened when we got into the club, but then we found that it was a pretty worthwhile dance party. I only wish I had brought my camera. It was like, Ibiza jr. Okay, more like Ibiza jr. jr. Bus Stop itself is a pretty small club, but it opens onto the courtyard of the hotel that is situated behind it. So it was pretty much an open air dance club, and that night they were playing a mix of oldies and new hip hip and R&B. Which is like me and E's specialities. On top of all this they had some serious go-go dancers. They were wearing some skimpy, glow in the dark outfits, and there were two or three of them going at a time around the space. It was probably more fun watching them than it was dancing. Anyway, as the night progressed, the music got better and better, until at around 2 am they started playing some seriously old skool hip hop and pop, and E. and I were just so happy. We stayed till the club closed down at around 3 am, and then dragged our asses
back to our hotel, to turn in for the night.
We would have to check out of our hotel the next morning, and were leaving for our climb up Mt. Sinai at night
